GIS is an essential tool for situational awareness to improve the flow of goods and services to populations at risk. Organizations involved in offering Humanitarian Assistance can use Geographic information products to support highly sensitive and important decision making. GIS data and analysis can be used for boundary delimitation and demarcation, field mission planning and operations, humanitarian intervention, logistics, resource allocation, and critical analysis and visualization for situational awareness and security. The training will provide the step-by-step method of instruction on how to conduct data research and collection and translate it into a map development which will help them to transfer the skills learned during the training to real world GIS challenges in the field of humanitarian assistance.
